Digital Design Advice

With the Oscars out of the way with for another year and the Hollywood Glitterati having suitably patted each other on the back for a job well done, this week I thought I’d look at Movie Poster design. I’ve always been a big fan of the Japanese Film industry, and have been irked for many years about the poor quality remakes that have been released. (not really poor quality, just dumbed down for the mass market and not as good as the originals!)

I’ve collected together a few examples of original Japanese v’s new release movie posters.

  Battle Royal :: USA Remake due in 2010
  Dark Water :: Honogurai Mizu No Soko Kara
  The Eye :: Gin Gwai
  The Departed :: Mou Gaan Dou
  The Grudge :: Ju-On
  A Fistful of Dollars :: Yojimbo
  The Magnificent Seven :: Seven Samurai

And with Battle Royale and Old Boy (South Korean) scheduled for a US overhaul in 2010, I’m looking forward to seeing their poster revamps as well.
